Documentation

A guide to what Lunovele can do — for authors and readers. We keep expanding it as the editor grows.

Getting started

  • Click “Create” in the header and pick the project type: a visual novel or a text novel.
  • Describe your idea in the setup chat — the assistant turns the brief into a project.
  • Build the story skeleton with the assistant: one editable card proposes chapters, episodes, characters and variables.
  • The stage strip inside the editor walks you through the steps — structure, writing, art, sound, screens and the first playable build.

AI assistant

The assistant is a co-author available on every stage of the editor.

  • Proposes the whole story structure from your brief as an editable card.
  • Writes scene drafts for episodes and applies story edits through chat — every change arrives as a reviewable card.
  • Keeps a story bible (canon, constraints, decisions) and checks new content against it.
  • Prepares art briefs and wires generated assets into scenes automatically.

Editor

The editor is the project’s home: a chapter map with episodes, events and connections.

  • Chapters group episodes (scenes); each episode holds a chain of events — dialogue, narration, choices.
  • Choices branch the story: routes between episodes and chapters, variables and conditions on them.
  • Multiple endings: any episode or chapter can be terminal — the reader’s path decides where they arrive.
  • Interactive screens turn a background into an explorable scene with clickable zones bound to events.
  • Open the draft in preview at any moment — exactly as the reader will see it.

Art & sound

Visual novels get generated art and audio, seeded by the story itself.

  • Character portraits and their visual states (variants) are generated as transparent cut-outs.
  • Backgrounds and interactive screens are rendered from scene descriptions.
  • Music and sound effects are generated per track.
  • Generated assets are placed into scenes automatically — speakers, backgrounds and music link up without manual wiring.

Versions & publishing

Your changes live in a draft. When the project is ready, create a version and publish it — readers always play the active published version.

  • The draft is the single source of truth; versions are immutable snapshots.
  • Publishing makes a version active; you can keep editing the draft safely.
  • Reader progress and completions are validated against the published version.

Languages

The interface ships in English, Spanish and Russian. Your story stays in the language you wrote it in; on the Languages page you can add translations that overlay the published version without touching the frozen snapshot.

For readers

  • Stories play right in the browser — nothing to install.
  • Progress is saved at episode checkpoints; continue reading from any device where you are signed in.
  • Branching stories are replayable — different choices lead to different endings.
  • Your reading history and continue-reading list live in your profile.

Assistant credits

AI features run on credits. Check your balance and usage and see what each assistant action costs.
